Fatal bike accident might lead to a wrongful death lawsuit

Motorcyclists have little protection, and they will always be vulnerable. Many wrongful death claims are filed in Florida civil courts after fatal collisions between motorcycles and other automobiles. Modern technology brings more advanced protection for motorists every year, while bikers rely on helmets and leather riding suits to limit the severity of the injuries they suffer in crashes. Thus, it is not surprising that few motorcycle riders survive collisions with other vehicles.

This was also the fate of a 21-year-old biker who died in a recent road accident. According to a preliminary Florida Highway Patrol crash report, the collision occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on a recent Tuesday. Reportedly, the motorcyclist was eastbound on a St. Petersburg road when the driver of a school bus failed to yield as he turned south onto a crossroad.

The 60-year-old bus driver put the large vehicle directly in the path of the oncoming bike. The motorcycle smashed into the side of the bus, causing the rider’s death at the crash scene. According to FHP, neither the operator of the bus nor any of his seven passengers suffered injuries.

Any family who loses a loved one at such an early age would naturally be devastated, and although no amount of money can bring a deceased loved one back, it could ease the unanticipated financial burden. The surviving loved ones of anyone who died as the result of another party’s negligence can pursue financial relief through the Florida civil justice system. It could be a challenging process that might be simplified by the support and guidance of an experienced wrongful death attorney. A successful lawsuit might lead to the entry of a monetary judgment to cover financial and emotional damages.
